Bantul, October 28, 2026 — The Master’s Program in Quranic Studies (S2 IAT) at the Faculty of Ushuluddin and Islamic Thought (FUPI), UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, held its first cohort of the Thesis Acceleration Program from October 24–28, 2026, at Griya Khusnul, Banguntapan, Bantul. This initiative is part of the study program’s efforts to support students in completing their theses in a focused, effective, and timely manner.
The acceleration program centers on providing intensive guidance to students currently conducting their thesis research. Activities include assistance with proposal development, the review and refinement of Chapters I through V, the expansion of references, and the strengthening of academic arguments. Through this support, students are expected to enhance the substantive quality of their research while accelerating their writing progress.
The Head of the S2 IAT Program, Dr. Ali Imron, M.S.I., emphasized the importance of students taking this acceleration program seriously as an opportunity to fulfill their academic obligations. He urged students to prioritize the completion of their theses and to avoid delaying the supervision process.
Students who have not yet engaged in supervision are advised to contact their thesis advisors immediately to discuss their research progress and the next steps toward completion. According to Dr. Imron, consistent communication and ongoing guidance are crucial for ensuring that the thesis completion process stays on track to meet established targets.
Dr. Imron also offered students who require additional time the option to remain at Griya Khusnul to continue working on their theses. It is hoped that students will make the most of this opportunity to refine and deepen sections of their work that still require improvement.
Throughout the program, students were guided to reorganize their writing structure, supplement their research data, strengthen their theoretical frameworks, and enrich their work with relevant references. A strong emphasis was also placed on refining academic arguments, ensuring that the final theses not only meet administrative graduation requirements but also demonstrate a high standard of academic quality. The Thesis Acceleration Program is an initiative that the Master’s Program in Qur’anic Studies (IAT) has implemented for several years as part of its academic support strategy for students. By conducting the program intensively off-campus, it is hoped that a more conducive learning environment will be created—one that helps students maintain their focus and facilitates the completion of their theses in a more structured and measurable manner.
Through this first cohort of the Thesis Acceleration Program, the Master’s Program in Qur’anic Studies(IAT) at the Faculty of Ushuluddin and Islamic Thought (FUPI), UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, aims to foster greater discipline among students throughout their research and writing process. The program also consistently encourages students to make the most of academic supervision, enhance the quality of their scholarly work, and complete their studies in accordance with their planned timelines.
