MIAT UIN Sunan Kalijaga Holds Orientation on Learning and Matriculation for New Students for the 2026/2027 Academic Year

YOGYAKARTA — The Master’s Program in Quranic Studies(MIAT) at the Faculty of Ushuluddin and Islamic Thought (FUPI), UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, held an orientation and matriculation program for new students for the 2026/2027 Academic Year, running from September 1–8, 2026. This program serves as a crucial step in preparing new students to navigate the academic environment, the learning system, and the specific characteristics of Quranic studies and exegesis at the master’s level.

The orientation and matriculation program was led by the Head of Matriculation, Dr. Ali Imron, M.S.I. The curriculum was designed to provide an initial understanding of the academic processes within MIAT—covering course structures, the curriculum, academic culture, and various elements essential for academic success within the FUPI UIN Sunan Kalijaga environment.

The matriculation phase also serves to harmonize the foundational knowledge of students arriving from diverse educational backgrounds. Through this program, students are expected to acquire the necessary scholarly grounding to engage effectively in their coursework, enhance their academic skills, and deepen their study of the Quran and exegesis in a critical and methodological manner.

Beyond academic reinforcement, the orientation and matriculation program offers new students an opportunity to adapt to the university environment, foster peer interaction, and build an academic network that supports their learning journey. This collaborative atmosphere is intended to encourage students to participate actively in discussions, exchange ideas, and cultivate a productive academic tradition.

Through this initiative, MIAT UIN Sunan Kalijaga reaffirms its commitment to preparing students with a robust scholarly foundation, strong research capabilities, and a critical perspective for understanding and advancing the study of the Quran and exegesis. Thus, students are expected to be able to undergo the master’s degree program optimally and contribute to the development of Islamic scholarship amidst the dynamics of contemporary society.
